Hastens will be celebrating its 170th anniversary on March 22. Pehr Adolf Janson began the company in 1852 in a little village in Hed, Sweden, making it one of the world’s oldest bed and mattress makers.
Hastens has been creating the best all-natural beds for 170 years, offering the ideal setting for a good night’s sleep. When the company began it specialized on making saddles and carriage furnishings, with mattress making a sideline to the primary business. The demand for horsehair mattresses, however, eventually grew to the point where the company’s main business became making beds.
In 1924, the plant was transferred just outside Stockholm to Köping, Sweden, and it is still there today. Jan Ryde, the current owner and CEO, took over the reins of Hastens in the late 1980s, becoming the fifth generation to lead the privately held family business. Ryde has been key in spearheading the company’s global expansion, all the while always researching and refining each and every bed model in his goal to give the greatest sleep experience.
Hastens has been guided by six generations of master craftsmen to where it is today. A family business dedicated to the virtues of sleep and unassuming pride in its work. Each generation has contributed to the development of Hastens, conquering obstacles along the way. We at Brickell Mattress invite you to take advantage of this opportunity to obtain perfect sleep by acquiring a Hastens bed as a tribute to mastery and craftsmanship.
